5th Annual Baltimore Siblings of the Year Event On September 26, Neighbor To Family, an accredited, evidence-based program that provides sibling foster care, honored the Lake sisters. Dr. Mabel Lake Murray, Dr. Jannette Lake Dates, Dr. Iantha Lake Tucker, and Cheryl Lake Weatherford, MS, RN, received the 2012 Siblings of the Year Gordon Johnson Award. This year's dinner was enjoyed by 190 attendees that included Councilman Kenneth Oliver, Baltimore County District 4; Mr. Harold Williams, Commissioner, Public Service Commission of Maryland; the Honorable Adrienne Jones Speaker Pro Tem, Maryland House of Delegates; and the Honorable Verna Jones-Rodwell, Maryland State Senator.
Heartfelt speeches were given by NTF representative, Joy; Vice President of External Affairs, The Annie E. Casey Foundation, Lisa Hamilton; and Mark Butler, son of Dr. Murray. Also inspiring at the podium were event facilitator, Karen Chrapek; emcee, Marsha Reeves Jews; President/CEO Gordon Johnson; one of our 2009 honorees, Alma Roberts; our 2012 honorees; and Executive Director, Donna McCarter, LCSW-C.
